SACRED HEART HIGH SCHOOL

SACRED HEART HIGH SCHOOL

Works included; a new sports hall, changing facilities and science teaching laboratories sited on the former school tennis courts. The sports hall had to be sunk to half basement level to reduce its mass against the pitched roof science building and existing buildings.

The team were responsible for the technical design of the scheme which required a high quality level of detailing and managing complex buildability issues relating to building the basement in close proximity to listed boundary walls and buildings.

The design aspiration for the school was to achieve a high level of crisp modern detailing with highly cantilevered stone window surround elements.  Although simple in appearance, the building was technically complex to coordinate and construct and required a high level of element coordination from the outset.
